KingView Enables Smart Building Automation at APEC 2025 Summit
From October 31 to November 1, 2025, the 32nd Leaders’ Meeting of APEC was held in Gyeongju, South Korea. As the core venue, Gyeongju Hwabaek International Convention Center welcomed heads of state and thousands of delegates from across the Asia-Pacific region.
To ensure operational excellence, environmental comfort, and energy efficiency, the venue’s Building Automation System (BAS) was upgraded using the KingView platform developed by WellinTech. The result: a centralized, intelligent, and low-carbon building control system that provided robust technical support for a truly “Green APEC.”

1. The Challenge: Stability, Precision, and Sustainability at the Highest Level
As a world-class conference venue, the BAS at Gyeongju Hwabaek International Convention Center had to meet stringent requirements:
Seamless integration of HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, pumps, cooling towers, and ventilation equipment under a unified monitoring platform
Precise environmental control for main halls, VIP lounges, and media centers, including differentiated temperature, humidity, and CO₂ regulation
High reliability and redundancy, ensuring 24/7 uninterrupted operation with zero tolerance for failure
Intelligent O&M capabilities, reducing manual inspections and enabling rapid fault detection and response
To meet these demands, KingView was selected as the system’s “intelligent brain,” transforming distributed control into centralized, data-driven management.
2. The Solution: Four Core Modules Powering Smart Building Operations

Leveraging KingView’s powerful configuration capabilities, high-performance data processing, and proven stability, the upgraded BAS implemented four core functional modules:
Panorama Centralized Monitoring
All critical equipment — air handling units, chillers, boilers, ventilation systems, and water tanks — was integrated into a unified graphical interface in the central control room. Operators could monitor system status, operational trends, and alarms through a single dashboard view.
Precision Environmental Control
The system continuously monitors AHU parameters such as CO₂ concentration, temperature, and humidity, automatically adjusting fresh air dampers and fan speeds for optimal indoor air quality.
Additionally, four cooling towers and four chillers operate under coordinated control logic, precisely regulating chilled water supply temperatures to ensure stable cooling capacity throughout the venue.
Intelligent Energy Management for a Green Summit
Advanced energy scheduling strategies were implemented to optimize performance and minimize waste:
Automatic scheduling aligned equipment startup and shutdown with the APEC event agenda, eliminating unnecessary energy consumption during idle periods
On-demand pump and fan control allowed dozens of units to operate based on real-time load requirements
These strategies significantly reduced energy intensity per square meter during the summit, supporting the event’s sustainability goals.
Visualized O&M and Real-Time Alarming
Operational data was presented through intuitive graphics and trend charts. For example, water tank levels could be tracked in real time, ensuring supply safety.
When abnormalities occurred, the system triggered instant pop-up alarms with highlighted equipment indicators, enabling maintenance teams to locate and resolve issues within minutes.
3. Proven Results: Zero Failures During APEC
During the summit, the KingView-powered BAS delivered outstanding performance:
Zero system failures, maintaining stable 24/7 operation throughout the event
Optimal indoor comfort, with temperature, humidity, and air quality consistently within target ranges despite changing outdoor conditions
Over 70% reduction in manual inspections, thanks to centralized visualization and automated monitoring
Improved response times, shortened to minute-level resolution
Measurable energy savings, achieving the objectives of a low-carbon “Green APEC”
4. Empowering Global Smart Infrastructure Transformation
The Gyeongju project represents another benchmark application of KingView in high-end international venues. By combining a highly reliable automation platform with AI-driven logic and digital twin concepts, WellinTech continues to support global customers in building safer, smarter, and more sustainable facilities.
As cities and venues worldwide pursue digital and low-carbon transformation, this successful deployment demonstrates how intelligent building automation can serve as the foundation for operational excellence at the highest international level.
